BE SALT AND LIGHT
Jesus called his disciples the salt of the earth and the light of the world (Matt 5:13-16). This means that Christians have a divine calling to be a preserving, illuminating influence on the world. As Christians proclaim the gospel and bear witness to the precepts of God's word, they do this not for themselves but "so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven" (Matt 5:16).
