About
Our mission comes from
Jeremiah 29
When ancient Israel was sent into exile by God, God spoke through the prophet Jeremiah and said, "Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, to all the exiles whom I have sent into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon: Build houses and live in them; plant gardens and eat their produce. Take wives and have sons and daughters; take wives for your sons, and give your daughters in marriage, that they may bear sons and daughters; multiply there, and do not decrease. But seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the Lord on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare" (Jeremiah 29:4-7).
Likewise, there is a sense in which Christians today are "sojourners and exiles" (1 Peter 2:11) or strangers in this world. However, not being "of the world" but living "in the world" Christians have an obligation to live honorably, be salt and light, and a blessing to the places in which we live. Our task remains to build, live, plant gardens, marry, have children, and seek the good of the city, town, village, or country in which we live. In other words, our presence as Christians should be noticed (1 Peter 1:12; Matt 5:16).
Jeremiah29.org is designed to help and encourage Christian disciples to live well in our world so our God is honored and adored.
